The office said the alleged act occurred during the investigation. It also said Rosebeck acknowledged a physical interaction with the woman during the incident.
The sheriff's office said Rosebeck faces a class 5 felony count of unlawful sexual conduct involving a police officer. As of Monday night, he remained in custody. Sheriff Mark Dannels said officers are not exempt from accountability and that allegations of abuse of authority require immediate attention. He thanked DPS for its cooperation.
DPS confirmed the investigation and has placed Rosebeck on unpaid administrative leave. He began working for the department in 2020. DPS said its Internal Affairs Unit is conducting a separate administrative investigation. DPS Director Colonel Jeffrey Glover said the department takes misconduct allegations seriously. The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact the sheriff's office.
