PUEBLO, CO - October 24, 2026

Jordan Sisneros, a paramedic with American Medical Response, is reuniting with Giovanni Medina, a teenager he helped treat after a car crash in Pueblo in November 2025. According to KRDO, officials said Medina was critically injured in the crash.

Crash Overview

In November 2025, Sisneros responded to the crash, where Medina was critically injured. Sisneros said Medina was unconscious with poor breathing when he and his partner began treatment. Other first responders arrived quickly, placed a neck collar on Medina and helped with ventilation, but Sisneros said Medina's condition continued to decline.

Sisneros said he was unable to perform the advanced airway procedure typically used in the field, and he was uncertain how long extrication would take. He chose to perform a surgical cricothyrotomy, a procedure he said is rarely performed. He described it as the first and only one of his career, which spans more than 10 years. Firefighters and other first responders on scene reportedly had not expected him to take that step.

Sisneros recently reunited with Medina and the team that treated him that night. He said he was glad to see how far Medina has come through his own efforts and those of his medical staff. Sisneros is set to be named a 2026 Star of Life recipient by the American Ambulance Association, which officials describe as the highest honor in EMS. He is one of 33 EMS professionals from Global Medical Response, the parent company of AMR, selected this year. According to Sisneros, he will travel to Washington, D.C., next month to join the other honorees.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
