Crash Overview

An arrest report that FOX5 obtained on Tuesday states that Corazon Blackwell traveled east in a blue 2022 Honda CR-V within the westbound bus lanes on West Sahara Avenue. Police said she kept going the wrong direction at high speed toward South Tenaya Way.

Police said the front of the Honda struck the front of the BMW in the center westbound lane. The Honda then turned a full circle and slid about 63 feet before coming to a stop.

Police said two witnesses had to steer out of the way of the Honda moments before the collision. One witness said the SUV was approaching at high speed and that the driver appeared agitated before veering into oncoming traffic behind him. He described hearing a loud blast when the two vehicles collided.

When the vehicles hit, the Honda lost its left front wheel. The wheel broke loose and struck a 2015 Hyundai Elantra traveling west, shattering its windshield. Data from the Honda's airbag control module, cited in the arrest report, indicated the Honda was traveling about 93 mph at impact, more than double the limit.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
