Crash Overview

A dispatch call about a truck that had driven into a home at 646 Brayton Avenue came in just before 8:00 a.m. Lieutenant Matthew Mendes reported that a resident was briefly stuck inside before the Fire Department got them out. That person was taken to Rhode Island Hospital.

The Fall River Firefighter Union said crews carried out an extended extrication and freed a person trapped beneath the vehicle. Engine 2 personnel brought a Technical Rescue Truck to the scene for additional equipment and manpower.

The collision caused extensive structural damage, and all occupants of the building were displaced. Because the exterior electrical service was damaged, power was shut off remotely before National Grid arrived to secure the service. The circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

People Involved

An occupant of the home was temporarily trapped, then extricated by the Fire Department, and sustained what appear to be non-life-threatening injuries. The driver of the truck was taken into custody at the scene. No age or hometown for either person has been reported.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
