News 12 Brooklyn reported on October 21, 2026, that police are looking for a driver after a fatal hit-and-run in the East New York section of New York City. The headline indicates that someone died and that the vehicle's driver left the scene, but it does not give the victim's identity, age, the time or exact location of the collision, or a description of the vehicle or the driver. It also does not say how the crash happened. No other news outlet has confirmed these details so far, so they should be treated as unverified.
The official crash report is kept by the law-enforcement agency that handled the crash, which in this case would be the police department serving the area. People involved in a crash, or those acting for them, can typically request a copy of that report from the agency.
