Crash Overview
Police said a motorcycle and an SUV collided at the intersection of West Ann Road and Whitestone Drive in the early morning of Sept. 19. Michael Kimbrough, the motorcyclist, died at the scene.
The driver of the SUV left before police or emergency crews arrived, police said.
Friends and family built the memorial a few days after the death. The neighborhood homeowners association allowed it to remain for one year. Friends later said the large cross had been stolen and the floral arch destroyed, and they are asking the person who took the items to return them. A new cross and floral arrangement now mark the location.
Friends said Kimbrough lived down the road from the intersection and that the person responsible has not been arrested. They hope the memorial encourages anyone with information to come forward. The family has offered a reward for information, and North Las Vegas police are continuing to investigate.
