Crash Overview

The race was stopped under a red flag with five laps remaining after the wreck. According to the report, Logano was running fourth when he lost control after a push from Carson Hocevar. The contact set off a pileup on the frontstretch that also involved Chase Briscoe, Brad Keselowski, Austin Cindric, Josh Berry and Riley Herbst.

Logano's No. 22 Ford went airborne and landed upside down. Safety crews needed several minutes to turn it back over, and Logano climbed out to cheers from the crowd. The report said Herbst, driving the No. 35 Toyota, appeared to lose his brakes before hitting the inside wall at near full speed. Safety workers helped him out of his car.

Logano said he had been pushed in the wrong place and praised the safety crew. He also said the roll cage appeared largely intact this time, unlike in a 2021 airborne crash at Talladega, and that he was glad to be alive. In a postrace interview, Herbst said he was okay and that it had been a large wreck. He had a soft cast on his left hand and a wrap on his wrist and forearm.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
