Crash Overview

Surveillance video from a nearby property reportedly shows a white sedan with a burned-out right rear taillight striking Ricardo Baptiste on the driver's side as he attempted to cross the road. Officials said the impact knocked him to the ground. They also said a tractor-trailer traveling along Germantown Pike struck him again and ran over him while he was lying in the road.

At around 9:10 p.m., East Norriton officers reached the scene and saw Baptiste not responding, with broken bones and cuts. Transported to a hospital, he later succumbed to his injuries there.

Through license plate readers and PennDOT records, detectives tied the vehicle to Vasquez, who is a rideshare driver and owns a 2015 Hyundai Sonata. Phone and rideshare data then placed him at the intersection around the time the crash was reported. Vasquez faces four charges. According to reports, if convicted, he faces a minimum of three years in prison and a $2,500 fine.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
