Crash Overview

Authorities received word of the collision shortly after midnight on Sunday, in the 1000 block of Road E in Schuyler. Early on, officers asked the public for information about a Ford F-150 that was white or light in color and thought to be connected to the crash.

Community members' tips pointed investigators toward Daniel Reynoso, a 62-year-old Columbus resident, whose pickup fit the vehicle they were seeking. Columbus police assisted as officers found a damaged truck close to his residence, and investigators said it lined up with what had been left at the crash site.

The Platte County Sheriff's Office assisted in arresting Reynoso in Lindsay on Monday afternoon. Police report that Reynoso told detectives he had been in a crash and conceded he had left the location. Investigators later took the 2005 white Ford F-150 from his Columbus home. Reynoso remains in custody at the Platte County Jail, facing felony counts for leaving the scene of a fatal crash and for tampering with evidence. These charges are allegations at this stage.

Why the Official Report Matters

The official accident report documents key facts—who was involved, where and when it happened, the officer's fault determination, and witness statements. Insurance companies rely on it to process claims.

Without this report, proving fault becomes significantly harder. Even if you don't plan to file a lawsuit, having the official record protects you if the other party's insurance disputes your account.
